Whisky or whiskey is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains are used for different varieties, including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, generally made of charred white oak.
In this video we visit 3 great single malt distilleries, Auchenstoshan, Glengoyne and Talisker. From just outside Glasgow we travel up through the north west to the stunning Isle of Skye. In Skye we also pop into the 3 Chimneys restaurant and talk to the head chief, he uses Talisker in a range of their dishes and loves the stuff!
Whiskey in its original form was single malt but as the love of whisky spread the people in 18th century London preferred a subtler taste and blended whiskey was born, However to get to the real heart of the Usquebaugh (water of life!) then the warm rich taste of the single malts is the best.
We here at BritainisGreat love a good glass of whiskey so this film is one to watch!
Gone on – have a wee dram!
